Q&A on Community Supported Agriculture
Q. What is a CSA?
A. Consumer-based program where consumers buy a share in the farm; receiving fresh produce during the growing season.
Q. Where can I find a CSA?
A. There is one in Plympton, MA
Q. How can I join? A. Buy a Farm Box Share or Associate Membership at the Colchester Neighborhood Farm.
Q. What’s a Farm Box?
A. A box of fresh produce that you pick up each week from Colchester Neighborhood Farm between June and October.

Q. What kinds of produce can I expect?
A. June: lettuce, peas. Early July through mid September: mixed field greens, beets, dark leafy greens, green beans, radishes and herbs. Mid July through mid September: yellow and zucchini squash and cucumbers. August and September: broccoli, tomatoes, eggplant and peppers, winter squash.
Q. Does it entail anything else?
A. In Asia, the expression for their version of CSA talks about fruit with the face of the farmer… here you get to know the farmer, and how and where your produce is grown. If you so desire, you have the opportunity to be involved with the planting, waiting and harvesting process… you may pick your own snap peas, green beans or tomatoes or anything else.
You’ll receive weekly updates about how things are growing and what is coming up next. You’ll also learn the joys and trials and tribulations and the cycles of nature on the farm.
