Meet our Crew
The primary objective of New England Village’s Colchester Farm is to provide meaningful employment for adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrome. Each day a crew consisting of 4-6 Farmer’s Associates heads to the farm with support staff. Upon arrival, each associate is assigned farm tasks based on their individual abilities. These abilities are nurtured by our staff as well as the Farm Manager. Tasks undertaken by the associates include planting, growing and harvesting vegetables, taking care of farm animals, and maintaining fields, the barn, greenhouses and our equipment.
Our farmer’s associates are most often referred to New England Village by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB), and Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC).
