New England Village Farming Associate:

Monday-Friday (Seasonal, March–November)

Our farmer’s associates are most often referred to New England Village by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Massachusetts Commission for the Blind (MCB), and Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC).

Here are some details about our farm and the Farming Associate position:

  • Workers at Colchester Neighborhood FarmNew England Village’s Colchester Farm is a multifaceted 8 acre organic farm in Plympton. Work as part of a crew (approx. 1:5 staff to worker ratio) performing various farm related tasks.
  • Feeding, watering and caring for animals; goats, chickens and a donkey.
  • Cultivating and preparing soil for planting.
  • Growing and planting seedlings in the farm green house.
  • Harvesting, washing and packaging produce.
  • General care and upkeep of the grounds and farm.
  • Interface with the public via farm stand, community events and CSA pick-up.

General Requirements: Motivated to work, comply with supervisory guidance, dependable attendance; works well as member of a team, etc. Formal admission process (including job interview) required for all referrals.

Training & Pay: Colchester Farm provides comprehensive training for hourly paid positions with rates that are commensurate with the quantity and quality of work performed. We strive to ensure these positions are satisfying, enjoyable and fulfilling employment experiences. Each business has a primary Staff Supervisor who works to create an atmosphere of teamwork and camaraderie in a safe work environment.
